Dear TRF Customer...

Yes! Summer Party begins Friday. Actually, it began today, as a significant number of participants arrived in the afternoon. Lots of Triumphs, including many TR7’s and TR8’s from the Triumph Wedge Owner’s Association, MG’s, Austin-Healeys, Etc. The Wedge Owners always come on Thursday and meet for dinner at a local restaurant, and they show up en masse on Friday morning at the drag strip. I also spotted one TVR among the early arrivals. When I arrived back at TRF this evening to write this e-mail, I found a large group sitting around a bonfire in the paddock, talking and listening to music.

On Friday, the schedule includes drag racing, a winery tour, open house at C.A.R. Components, a LeMans start contest, BB gun shooting, and dinner at The Roadster Factory with live music and the film “LeMans” starring Steve McQueen. Saturday events include a mountain road tour and poker rallye, vintage autocross racing open to all participants, a LeMans costume contest, a wine and cheese party at The Coventry Inn, and our Concours d’Elegance. Awards for all events will be given after the car show.

I am thrilled by TRF staff’s preparations for Summer Party. The grounds look wonderful with about ten acres of mowed fields, the logos, T-shirts, and badges are very professional, and the building looks its best. TRF staff will prepare the dinner for our guests tomorrow evening with help from the chef at The Coventry Inn. The guests will sit at tables under a tent in our paddock with red, white, and blue linens to match the French flag which always flies at LeMans. The menu is barbecued chicken, local sweet corn, homemade potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and my Grandma Runyan’s blueberry pudding for dessert. Today, some of the staff brought in wild flowers and made centerpieces for the tables. I am very pleased and proud of the commitment of the staff to prepare for Summer Party 2010. For customers who were unable to attend this year, we will post a hundred pictures on the web site sometime in August.

The Summer Party Sale parameters provided above replace ones posted last week. I thank those who ordered from the offer posted last week, but I have determined that the previous offer required too much arithmetic for visualizing and comparing prices. As the new offer is more like my usual practice, I feel sure that everyone will be more comfortable in using it. Please note that discounted prices do not show up when ordering online. These are handled after the order is received at TRF, and we are very careful to insure that customers receive all advertised discounts and offers.

I had noted this week that TRF has a number of our paper catalogues in stock. The prices are outdated, but otherwise they are just like the ones on the web site. If you would like to have a paper cataloge for reference, we will be happy to send one along for free with any order. The catalogues available include “TR2 and TR3 Mini Web Catalogue,” “TR4 and TR4A Mini Web Catalogue,” TR250 & TR6 Glove Box Companion,” and “MGB, MGB-GT Glove Box Companion.” You may request one or more of these by using the “Comments” field on web orders.

I am looking forward to a couple of days of fun with the Summer Party Participants, and my daughter Caroline is home for the festivities. My wife will come tomorrow, and the whole family, except Simon will be here for Summer Party. I hope you have a great couple of days too, and I hope to hear from you again soon.

Your friend,
Charles A. Runyan
